We're very excited to be back for this years virtual Walkathon! Last year we walked as family in support of Jonathan and SAAAC. This year we plan to continue our family challenge and WALK FOR JONATHAN.
Our challenge will be to do 2 miles of outdoor walking everyday this summer, rain or shine! Since Covid-19, our family has been trying to stay healthy as much as we can. We picked walking because it's an exercises that Jonathan can enjoy.
Our goal will be to increase our distance to 3 miles we get closer to August. On the final week of the challenge we will complete 20 miles of walking in one week as a family.
We joined SAAAC 11 years ago when Jonathan was 13 years old, and we have been part of the SAAAC family ever since. Jonathan has grown and matured over those years with all of the great support that the SAAAC therapist and team have provided. He was able to get his first job 3 years ago with the help of SAAAC. Jonathan has been improving his abilities, his creative skills, art skills, his cognitive skills and his overall life skills thanks to the support of SAAAC and the community.
We don't know where we would be without SAAAC, and we want to continue to support other families that are having a hard time. Raising a kid with Autism has been a challenge, and now for many families facing financial difficulties due to Covid-19 & that challenge is even greater. We hope to come together with SAAAC to support all these families in need.
Thank you for your support on behalf of our family,
Stella, Joseph, Jonathan & Vanessa
Good Luck and keep up the good work!!
